Video Games: Simulation

This guide aims to help gamers of any level of experience to find something new to play.

Simulation Games

The simulation (or sim) game genre is a broad category for games that seek to simulate real world activities. These games can be used for training and analysis in addition to entertainment. Sims often have flexible gameplay which allows the player to control a character or environment with loosely defined goals.

Vehicle Simulator

Vehicle simulators provide a realistic interpretation of operating various vehicles, include automobiles, aircraft, watercraft, and spacecraft. The main gameplay is driving and steering the vehicle from the perspective of the driver. Other games add additional challenges, such as racing, fighting rival vehicles, or managing vehicle condition.

Management Simulator

Management simulators challenge players to build, expand, or manage a fictional project or community, often with limited resources. Gameplay often incorporates factors like economics, time constraints, and customer satisfaction.

Life Simulator

Life simulation is an extensive subgenre where players maintain and grow an artificial life or environment. A life sim can revolve around building relationships with characters or focus on a specific environment over time. Subgenres within life sim include: digital pets, biological sims, social sims, and dating sims.
