Video Games: Role-Playing Game

What better way to pass the time on a rainy day than to pull out a video game to play? This guide aims to help gamers of any level of experience to find something new to play that's right for them.

RPGs

Role-Playing Games come in many shapes and sizes but they all have one defining trait that they share in common. They are all about building a character. Whether that means starting as a lowly foot soldier with a cloth rag on their back and a rusted iron sword and eventually becoming the coolest dragonslayer this side of the Misty Mountains with a glowing blue sword and spiky black plate armor, or it means making story decisions that affect how your character interacts with the world around them, Role-playing games are all about the experience of watching your character grow.

Dragon Quest XI

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Japanese RPGs (JRPGs) have a unique flair to them and are typically stylized very differently from their Western counterparts. If you are looking to try out the genre and were looking for a good JRPG to sink your teeth into to get a feel for the genre, then look no further than Dragon Quest XI. Don't let the XI in the title fool you, you don't have to have played the previous ten entries in the series to appreciate this game. The story and combat are a throwback to JRPGs of past decades and it is incredibly well-designed to fit modern sensibilities as well. For those looking for a fresh coat of paint on classic RPG game elements, look no further than Dragon Quest XI.

After a bit of a bumpy start, Bethesda has done a lot of work patching the game to get it to a playable and enjoyable state. If you are looking for a way to play RPGs with your friends, look no further than this title.

Dragon Age Inquisition

The Dragon Age franchise has always focused on storytelling and choice. In Inquisition, the player is thrust into a world at war. Mages and Templars fight for dominance and right when there seems like there is a peace to be struck, the skies begin to open up and demons begin to pour out of portals in the sky, and you, the player, are the only person who can close them. Play as one of three classes (Warrior, Rogue, Mage) and grow your character, making choices that affect the world and the progression of the story.  One of the best story-telling fantasy RPGs from this generation.
