Child Tax Credit Payments

There have been important changes to the Child Tax Credit (CTC) that will help many families. The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 expands the CTC for tax year 2021 only. The 2021 Child Tax Credit is up to $3,600 for each qualifying child. Eligible families can claim the credit through April 15, 2025, by filing a federal tax return—even if they don't normally file and have little or no income.
