Long-term Care Ombudsman: each state has a central office that can refer you to the long-term care ombudsman responsible for any nursing facility that you are considering or in which you already reside. Long-term care ombudsmen respond to complaints about long-term care facilities and mediate disputes between residents and facilities. They are in a unique position to know whether a facility has frequent complaints, and whether the facility responds well to them.
