Power Hours are designated education periods consisting of science projects, board games, spelling bees and more.
Tutoring is available with ESL support.  Summer programs include educational and literacy programs

Center for Active Seniors participates by having seniors volunteer to read with and listen to children read at school. Kindergarten through 3rd grade. This is done throughout the school year.

The Stepping Stones programs are offered at all elementary schools in Davenport during the afterschool hours. Program runs from right afterschool until 5:30pm, Monday – Friday. The program offers homework help, literacy intervention and hands on literacy intervention on a daily basis for students in Kindergarten – 5th grades.

The Stepping Stones summer program operate in 5 schools within DCSD and focuses on reading enrichment, math enrichment and STEM. The program generally operates Monday – Thursday from 7 weeks in the summer.

Madison, Jefferson and Monroe Elementary Schools offer a KinderJump program during the month of July. All incoming kindergarteners, of the school listed above, are invited to attend this program from 7:30 – Noon. The program introduces the students to their Kindergarten reading curriculum as well as focusing the skills needs to be a successful kindergartener.

Great Minds assists the Davenport Community School District in providing enrichment programming by leveraging community resources.  District-wide grade level enhancements provide experiences for all students K-8 in a variety of outside the classroom learning experiences.  Currently 2015-16 school year, DCSD Kindergarten students go to Niabi Zoo, first grade to “Community Helpers Encourage Reading”, second grade to Vander Veer Botanical park, third grade to the Adler Theatre for Ballet Quad Cities’ and Orchestra Iowa’s presentation of “The Nutcracker”, fourth to the QC Symphony Day at the Adler Theatre, fifth to the Figge Art Museum and the River Music Experience, sixth grade to the Putnam Museum, seventh grade the in-school visit by the Davenport Police with a presentation on "Cyber-Bullying and the Law”, and eight grade goes to the Junior Achievement’s  “BizTown” Center.  

In addition to the district-wide programs, approximately $18,000 is granted to inspired teachers who create and plan learning adventures for their students and request assistance from the Great Minds Mini-Grants.  Great Minds encourages engaging opportunities for our DCSD students to learn, read, analyze, and educate.

The program offers Adult Basic Education, High School Equivalency, and English as a Second Language programming at multiple locations throughout the five counties of EICC’s service area. Career Navigators are available to assist students one-on-one with goal setting, job seeking, and/or continuing education opportunities. Daytime and evening classes are available.
