Annie Wittenmyer and the Iowa Soldiers' Orphans' Home: Orphans' Records - Please Note

Annie Wittenmyer and the Iowa Soldiers' Orphans' Home

Orphans' Records

The Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center of the Davenport Public Library holds no original records from the Iowa Soldiers’ Orphans’/Annie Wittenmyer Home in Davenport. Only those acquired by the Iowa Department of Human Services have survived, beginning about 1910 (with very few available between 1910 and 1920) and through to an unknown mid-twentieth-century date. Please call or email the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center for the DHS contact information.

The RSSC Center has other types of sources on the Home, including a list of the children there in 1867, a list of residents' names that appear in the U.S.censuses between 1870 and 1950, and others described in this guide.
