Comic Strips

There are such a wide variety of comics that fall under the header of comic strips. The ones in this section are either comic strips or days from either websites or book collections that you can find at your local bookstore or library. Some examples of types of comic strips are listed below with a description, as well as the book covers that I read.

Heritage Strips

Heritage strips are comic strips that had their origins pre-1940. Some examples of these strips are Blondie, Little Nemo, Little Orphan Annie, Dick Tracy, Mutt & Jeff, Popeye, and Krazy Kat.

Classic Strips

Examples of classic strips are Peanuts, Beetle Bailey, Brenda Starr, Dennis the Menace, and Family Circus.

Surreal Strips

Examples of surreal strips are The Far Side, Zippy the Pinhead, Speed Bump, and Bizarro.


Social/Political Commentary Strips

Examples of social/political commentary strips are Doonesbury, Bloom County, and The Boondocks.

Animal Strips

Examples of animal strips are Get Fuzzy, Mutts, Mother Goose and Grimm, and Garfield.

Continuity Strips

Examples of continuity strips are Funky Winkerbean, Mary Worth, For Better or For Worse, and Rex Morgan M.D.
